Emma’s ceramic pieces are all wheel-thrown stoneware, in a range of functional & decorative forms. She works with white clay as a canvas to layer coloured slips and
underglazes in a variety of stencilled, hand painted & sgraffito designs.
Emma takes inspiration from classic tattoo art iconography, influenced by both Western traditional and Japanese designs. By transposing images to the solid ceramic surface, she creates a contrast with the usual context of soft flesh that encourages the viewer to consider tattoos from another angle.
Being handmade items, the item you are sent may vary from the one in the images.
This Beastie Boys inspired mug was thrown on the potters wheel from flecked stoneware clay. It is decorated with coloured underglaze brushstrokes and a screen-printed design. Finished with transparent glaze.
9-10cm tall, 10cm wide at base, 400ml + capacity (measurements are approximate). Every item is handmade and there will be some variations in size and shape. Dishwasher and microwave safe, gentle hand-washing recommended.
