Steve Mills
Bath Steve Mills trained in Graphics at Hornsey College of Art in
the ‘50s, followed by two years post-diploma study in Pottery under
Paul Barron and Henry Hammond at Farnham School of Art, and a
teaching diploma in Bristol. He re-founded Bath Pottery in 1967, and
co-founded Bath Potters’ Supplies with his wife Kate in 1979. Since
retirement he has devoted himself to making pots again. Steve makes
domestic ware specialising in jug, vase and bottle forms, often with
boldly altered shapes and subtle decorations. Most of his work is
wheel-made and high-fired to stoneware temperatures in either a
wood-fired saltglaze kiln, a gas, or a wood-assisted gas kiln. Steve
is also an expert kiln designer /builder, and has led courses in
this around the world.
