Williams
Bridget
Williams, BA, Painting and Printmaking, began working with clay
in 1981 whilst studying Art Therapy. After further training in ceramics
and working in a collective workshop in London, she became Resident
Potter at Prema Arts Centre in Uley, Glos. She teaches at Stroud
Art College and produces pottery in her studio at home.
Bridget
makes wheel-thrown domestic ware using red earthenware clay. Her
large platters, bowls, mugs and other forms are produced as a vehicle
for decoration, the surface acting as a canvas on which she applies
coloured slips under a transparent glaze. The freshness of the patterns
are enhanced by the vigorousness of the sgraffito lines and clarity
of the stenciled patterns.
