MICHELLE
OHLSON trained as an art teacher, specialising in ceramics and jewellery.
She established her first workshop in 1978 and currently produces
a range of earthenware that is elaborately decorated whilst remaining
functional.
Her
constant themes are landscape and wild plants, inspired by the work
of the Pre-Raphaelite painters with their use of rich colours and
twisted plant forms. The influence of eastern art is also apparent.
Michelle
uses white earthenware, which gives a rich glow to her colourful
decorations and finishes her pieces with gold and platinum lustre
trim. She produces in this way a distinctive line of clocks, mirrors,
lamps, plaques, brooches and bowls.
