Wendy Green
Wendy
Green uses clay in two distinct ways: on the potterís wheel
for making useful pots and for handbuilding one-off decorative pieces.
She finds working with clay endlessly fascinating, as the malleable
material and powdery glazes are transformed into durable decorative
objects with the help of the kiln and fuel. It is a lifelong addiction.
In her thrown work, mainly
bowls and vases, Wendy aims for the feeling of strength and tactile
quality which only very highly fired stoneware and porcelain have.
Her sculptural pieces
are made by coiling, a technique which gives enormous scope in shape,
size and texture. Her inspiration for this comes mainly from oriental
artefacts and from modern European sources.
