Alison Bundle

Alison Bundle gave up her career in commerce to study ceramics at Mid-Warwickshire College. She then established her studio near Stratford Upon Avon. She now lives and has her studio in north Dorset.

Her work consists of handbuilt, coiled and slabbed animal forms, in resilient grogged stoneware clay decorated with metallic oxides and lustres. Each piece is unique.

Inspiration comes from early equine art: Greek chariot horses and Chinaís Tíang dynasty terracotta horses, as well as from the more accessible and lively horses in the field across the lane from her studio! Horses, with their grace and strength in movement and at rest, are her first love. Trying to reflect all this in clay form is an absorbing task.

Currently, Alison works from sketches and photos, modelling a series of horses, dogs and other animals. They are characterised by a lively style, in which the creatures seem to engage their viewers somehow on a human level. She is willing to consider accepting commissions.
